Pizza Pizza opens two more locations in Winnipeg Friday, December 7th, 2012

Winnipeggers will benefit from more value, selection and convenience than ever before

TORONTO (November 29, 2012) – Pizza Pizza, the company that’s been delivering innovation, flavour and exciting promotions since 1967, has opened the doors to two new locations in the Winnipeg area. The new restaurants are located at 3525 Roblin Boulevard and 661 Henderson Highway, representing the seventh and eighth stores to open in the region.

“We’re very happy with the response we’ve received to date,” said Pat Finelli, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Pizza. “Winnipeggers have a huge appetite for flavour and an appreciation for great value. The deals we’re offering in the city are among the best I’ve ever seen. We love Winnipeg and will do what we can to help them eat well, enjoy their food and save money.”

According to management, Pizza Pizza’s success in the city is attributed in large part to its menu, which is among the most diverse in the quick-service industry, and the great prices that the company offers its customers paired with the convenience of delivery.

“After 45 years in business exclusively in Canada, we’ve developed ways to save and become more efficient in our processes and operations,” said Finelli. “Because of that, we’re able to pass along savings to our customers. We have fun with the communities we serve through great promotions and sponsorships, while offering every day value.”

Across its network of stores, Pizza Pizza offers a special fundraising program to local charities and other groups that wish to raise funds through pizza catering. Last month, the company and its Winnipeg-area stores have participated in Slices for Smiles, a program that has raised more than $1 million for children’s charities, including Children’s Miracle Network and Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

“The value Pizza Pizza provides, both to me and to my customers, stands out among other restaurant chains and really makes an impact on the budget and quality of life in the community,” said Alpesh Patel, the owner and operator of the Roblin Boulevard location. “It’s enough to encourage trial and, as I have seen through my research and observations, loyalty.”

Pizza Pizza opened its first restaurant in Winnipeg in July 2009. Today, Pizza Pizza has eight traditional locations in the city and four non-traditional locations in sites such as the University of Manitoba, Cineplex theatres and five counters at the MTS Centre as part of its sponsorship of the Winnipeg Jets. The company’s sixth restaurant was opened last month in Transcona, a suburb of Winnipeg.
